The records comprise the pre-1958 records of the Pennsylvania Company and 54 of its subsidiary, leased, and affiliated lines. Most of the companies are represented only by minute books, although there are also board papers, account books, stock ledgers and reports to the I.C.C. for many of the larger companies. The minutes for most of the subsidiaries are more informative for the period prior to PRR control. The records also include copies of minutes for several joint terminal companies in which the PRR participated, such as the Belt Railway of Chicago, the Chicago Union Station Company, and the Fort Wayne Union Railway Company.
